I have had a passion for art and design all of my life. As a child, I often drew pictures and made finger paintings. I displayed a certain level of talent at an early age and, while in kindergarten, had a painting selected at school for display at a city wide exhibition. I went on to study Art at Hunter College in New York, which is where I first took up photography. Although I ended up following a career in the financial services industry, I continued to pursue my artistic interests as a hobby, often taking pictures and using them as the basis for my paintings. Recently I made the decision to make this hobby my life's work and Blossoms Landing was born.
I am intrigued by light and the intensity of color and how both can influence our moods and perceptions. I love to paint reflections in water and sunsets and city buildings lit up against the night sky. For me, there is rhythm in cloud formations, in certain architectural elements, and in the vibrancy of color and patterns of light. I have sometimes referred to sunsets as having dynamic tranquility. While these terms may seem somewhat contradictory I believe that in the most dramatic and vibrant sunsets lies a feeling of peace and spirituality.
I have always been challenged when asked to describe my painting style in one word and have often been told by others that my painting style is unique. I believe that I am constantly evolving; that I am now and will always be a work in progress, as I strive to produce work that highlights the majesty of nature and the dynamics of light and color in our lives.
